Moment world's largest passenger jet slices through clouds and leaves mesmerising display in its wake

This is the moment a veteran plane spotter captured a rare look at a phenomenon that exemplifies the beauty of modern-day air travel.

The aviation enthusiast named Schipholhotspot on Youtube posted a 30-second video, which shows an Airbus A380 – the world’s largest passenger airliner – slicing through a wall of clouds and leaving a mesmerising display in its wake.

The man recorded the Dubai-bound Emirates aircraft as it soared into the clouds at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. See the amazing pictures after the cut..

The superjumbo jet melts into the clouds as it makes its ascent, leaving a gaping hole in the wall as clouds swirl in its turbulent wake and form a circle that looks like the eye of a storm.

Minutes later, after the double-decker plane is long gone, the wall splits in two as the clouds continue their beautiful spin. It was shot from the ground and aviation enthusiasts are amazed by it...

Soludo's self serving article on Economic management is deficit in facts, logic & honor - Okonjo-Iweala

Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has responded to former CBN governor Charles Soludo's article titled Buhari Vs Jonathan: Beyond the election, where he criticized the presidential economic team (read here). NOI's response below...
1. For anyone who has not read Professor Charles Soludo’s article on January 25 2015, I would encourage them to do so. It is littered with abusive and unbecoming language. It shows how an embittered loser in the Nigerian political space can get so derailed that they commit intellectual harakiri by deliberately misquoting economic facts and maliciously turning statistics on their head to justify a hatchet job. We hope all the intellectuals in the international circles in which Professor Soludo has told us he flies around in will read what a Professor of Economics has chosen to do with his intellect.

Several millions went into producing Silence — Iyabo Ojo

Popular Yoruba actress of Aristo fame, Iyabo Ojo has confessed to Potpourri in a private BBM chat that her new movie ‘Silence’ premiered some weeks ago and currently showing at the cinemas across the country cost her several millions of Naira. The film which gives lucid picture of child abuse in our society and it effects on the victims, has been largely applauded by those who have seen it for its its uniqueness in production quality and plot.

IYABO-OJO2Without disclosing the actual amount that went into the production of the movie, she told Potpourri the movie gulped millions of naira. “Several millions went into the production of the movie. I don’t want to disclose the actual amount but it gulped some millions,” she said.

Child abuse experiences
According to her, the script was inspired by cases of child abuse experiences that were shared with her by some women she had come across. “Few young ladies I have come across told me their stories, how they were abused as a child. They told me of different side effects it had on them and how scared they were to share it with their families and close friends. I wrote the script myself,” she explained.

Hand-over to military: APC’s claims malicious, mischievous — Okupe

By Henry Umoru

ABUJA — THE Presidency, yesterday, described as mischievous and malicious, claims by the Presidential Campaign Organisation of the All Progressives Congress, APC that the government had concluded plans to hand over to the Military rather than its presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari(retd)

It said that the APC should use its energy to clear the name of its candidate from what it termed the mess of not having prerequisite academic qualification to govern the country, rather than resorting to diversionary tactics.

In a statement yesterday by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, the Presidency said: “Our attention has been drawn to a statement issued by the Spokesperson of the Buhari Campaign Organisation, Mallam Garba Shehu, where he alleged that an official of the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President posted some comments on the social media suggesting that “government will rather hand over power to the military rather than to Gen. Muhammadu Buhari in the event that the APC candidate wins the elections.

“We categorically deny that this statement was ever made by anyone in this office. The APC claim is absolutely false, mischievous and malicious.

“The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs personally handles his Twitter, @doyinokupe and other social media platforms and continues to use such as a legitimate medium of advancing the cause of democratic good governance and institutional integrity which President Goodluck Jonathan represents.

“Dr. Okupe has never and will never associate himself with thoughts or actions which run contrary to the tenets of democracy, rule of law and the right of Nigerians to freely elect those who govern them.
“We urge the APC to concentrate on clearing the name of its presidential candidate from the mess of not having prerequisite academic certificate and incapacity to govern Nigeria rather than seek a cheap diversion from a phantom post by some persons on the social media.”
